Remco de Jonge – Fine Art Portrait Photographer
My name is Remco de Jonge. Born in 1975 in The Hague, I grew up with a passion for craftsmanship and skilled trades. My career began as a carpenter, and later I found my way into the hospitality industry as a fast food specialist. But life took me down a different path, and since 2012 I have been working in the funeral industry, a profession centered around humanity and meaningful moments.
Yet there was always that one passion: photography. What started as an interest grew into a true art form in which I could completely lose myself. I earned certificates in "Photography Lighting Indoors and Outdoors" and "Professional Photographer" and attended a masterclass in wedding photography. For years, I captured a wide range of moments—portraits, parties, weddings, and even funerals. But alongside my work in the funeral industry, it became increasingly difficult to combine everything.
That’s why I made a conscious choice: my heart lies with Fine Art Portrait Photography. Not standard portraits with forced smiles or static poses, but artistic images that bring out the essence of the person. I strive for portraits that tell a story, evoke emotion, and show who someone truly is—whether through a pose, a look, or a hobby. Of course, I remain open to the wishes of my clients, but my focus is on creating unique, timeless works of art.
I live in the beautiful town of Naaldwijk and am the proud father of three sons. I also have a girlfriend, the mother of my youngest son, who supports me in everything. Here, amidst the busy life, I find the peace and inspiration to follow my passion and capture people in a special way.
Besides my love for my family and photography, I am deeply fond of Italy, especially Lake Garda. The contrast between mountains, nature, and water fascinates me, and in summer I fully enjoy the sun.
My favorite drink?
If I may describe myself through something simple, I would start with coffee. Coffee is without a doubt my favorite drink. Not just because of the taste—rich, strong, and sometimes a bit bitter—but especially because of what it means to me. Coffee stands for calm and connection. A good conversation often begins for me with a cup of coffee. It is the moment when everything can be quiet or shared. The character of coffee matches who I am: sincere, with depth, and always with room for a bit of warmth.
My favorite animal?
My favorite animal is the elephant. Not just an impressive creature, but a symbol full of meaning. In Buddhism, the elephant represents strength, wisdom, patience, and gentleness. Qualities I admire and try to live by. The elephant teaches us that true strength does not lie in loudness, but in calmness. And that real connection arises when you can listen in silence. For me, the elephant is like a mirror for life: firmly rooted, but with a big heart.
So, that was a bit of my story. Now I’m really curious about yours! Who are you and what makes you unique? Maybe that will even lead to a beautiful Fine Art portrait—who knows! I’m looking forward to getting to know you better.
